Looking for a Web site Developer/designers ASAP!!
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

After a 2 year study from July 4th, 2005- July 4th, 2007 Project RAFT had gained 350 members from 25+ nations.

Project RAFT www.projectraft.org was successful in raising awareness among youth who were interested in education and empowering their-selves as well as there community.

The site was a collaborative effort, designed and maintained with world wide volunteers and donations. We were able to generate over 3 million hits in this time from virtually the whole world.

This organization was founded with a Canadian, a Ghanaian, a Filipino and an award winning Nigerian.

Many people joined to take advantage of the discussion boards, the free I.C.T classes, How to Video’s, as well as entrepreneurial opportunities, and educational opportunities that we offered.

We were able to generate much momentum and to raise awareness towards empowering people from developing countries!

Our how to classes - How to make Bio-diesel from waste vegetable oil, how to compost, how to desalinate sea water, how to make low cost treatment for H.I.V, how to produce decentralized electric power, how to build low cost sustainable houses and structures etc. altogether there were 25 classes in total.

R.A.F.T is a concept that is a collective and offers holistic solutions for any community R.A.F.T = Renewable Energy, Agriculture, Aquaculture, Architecture, Fresh Water Development, Trade and Technology all of which are corner stones to building any successful community.

Through this organization Project R.A.F.T showed many people especially in developing nations that through innovation, a little education and a collaborative willingness that almost anyone could improve their current situation, weather it be their education, financial situation, their health, or simply exercising their human rights!
We were successful in bringing empowerment to those who needed it most.

Project R.A.F.T was a success but it has since evolved and for good reason. Project RAFT started out as an organization targeted towards targeting 6 developing African nations, but there was such an overwhelming response from many people and other organizations from places like Brazil, Columbia, India, Thailand, The Philippines, and even developing communities in Canada, those communities in the Territory of Nunavut as well as other various Aboriginal communities in the USA.

Project RAFT had to re-think its global position to fulfill what appears to be an overwhelming need to educate and empower youth on virtually every continent.

So since July 4th, 2007 when Project RAFT went off line it has been busy with a new redevelopment plan.

Developing My Nation www.developingmynation.org will be for anyone who wants to educate and empower themselves or develop their village, community, or nation.

The new name will be Developing My Nation but the process and empowerment efforts will be much the same. The efforts and programs will only be enhanced and further reaching.

We want to include any community from any developing nation or developed nation to offer the process known as R.A.F.T and the tools that it offers

We are in the process of setting up a series of businesses so to have our own source of funding.

We would like to ask anyone with internet and website developing skills and who wants to get involved with the making, designing of this evolving organization.

We can be contacted at developingmynation@gmail.com

The name is registered www.developingmynation.org and we have web hosting ready to go.

Thanks
RAFT

STEPHEN HARPER EAT YOUR WORDS- YOU WANT TO BATTLE KYOTO TO IT'S END, WELL IT LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE ALREADY BEAT!!
Related to country: Canada

OTTAWA (CP) - A prime minister who now promises to fight climate change once ridiculed the Kyoto accord as a money-sucking socialist scheme and said he would battle to defeat it.

Stephen Harper derided the global treaty and questioned the science of climate change in a 2002 fundraising letter sent to members of his now-defunct Canadian Alliance party. With polls showing the environment is a top priority with voters and Harper keen to bolster his environmental credentials, the letter could prove embarrassing.

It was circulated Tuesday by the Liberals, who said it unmasks Harper as a climate-change denier.

"Kyoto is essentially a socialist scheme to suck money out of wealth-producing nations," says the letter, signed by Harper.

"Implementing Kyoto will cripple the oil and gas industry, which is essential to the economies of Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia . . .

"Workers and consumers everywhere in Canada will lose. THERE ARE NO CANADIAN WINNERS UNDER THE KYOTO ACCORD."

He also blasted the treaty for targeting carbon dioxide - which he said is "essential to life" - and played down the science of climate change as "tentative and contradictory."

Harper went on to promise a "battle of Kyoto" in hope of defeating the Chretien Liberals' efforts to implement the treaty legislation in the House of Commons.

"But we can't do it alone. It will take an army of Canadians to beat Kyoto, just as it did to beat (the) Charlottetown (constitutional accord)," he wrote.

These days, Harper avoids critcizing the Kyoto accord, and simply dismisses its targets as unattainable.

Kyoto calls for a six per cent cut in greenhouse gas emissions from 1990 levels by 2012. Canada's emission levels have risen 27 per cent since 1990.

The prime minister's office would not comment on the letter but pointed out that the emission levels occurred under the previous Liberal government.

Now, with public-opinion polls indicating that climate change is becoming a dominant political concern for Canadians, the prime minister is promising serious action.

He intends to introduce a vastly revamped version of his Clean Air Act in the coming months. The original legislation has been ridiculed by opponents and opinion-makers as a work in progress that fails to set reduction targets before 2050.

The Liberals said the letter proves Harper isn't serious about tackling climate change.

"It's no wonder Mr. Harper's sudden change of heart is hard for Canadians to swallow," said Liberal MP Mark Holland.

"Now, suddenly, because he has seen the polls and realized the political opportunism of going 'green,' the prime minister has launched a new campaign - that of trying to convince Canadians that he actually cares about the environment.

"Well, no one is buying it."
